Welcome to Banta Blooms Dahlia & Flower Farm! We are so glad you found us.

Nestled in the heart of West Michigan, near Lowell, we are a small family-run farm specializing in Dahlias and other beautiful flowers. In 2012, we were blessed with the opportunity to move from the Eastside of Michigan to the Westside. This move brought me closer to my dream—having land to nurture and cultivate everything my heart desired, and that would thrive in zone 6A (though I still lovingly think of us as zone 5B). It’s here that my lifelong love of nature blossomed into a full-time pursuit of growing plants, flowers, and even trees.

By what I can only call divine intervention, I discovered the enchanting world of Dahlias. The moment I planted my first tuber, Crème de Cassis, I was hooked. From that point on, my passion for these stunning flowers grew, season by season. I eagerly bought more tubers, honed my planting techniques, and learned how to properly care for, store, and wake them up early to witness their beauty each year. Tending to my Dahlias and flowers has become more than just a hobby—it’s a form of therapy. Gardening heals my soul.

As time passed, I had a grand idea: why not make this my second chapter in life? I dove into learning everything I could about Dahlias, and when I say I became a "Dahlia addict," I truly mean it. I didn’t just dip my toes in—I immersed myself. I read books, talked to experts, and connected with anyone who shared a passion for these extraordinary flowers. My membership in the Lowell Showboat Garden Club, which focuses on community beautification projects, led me to the West Michigan Dahlia Society, where I was lucky to connect with a talented group of Dahlia enthusiasts. Through them, I discovered the joy of participating in Dahlia shows—a competitive but rewarding experience I’m eager to continue.

Running a flower farm is a learning process, and while I’ve gained a great deal of knowledge, I know there’s always more to learn. Nature has its challenges, and as a flower farmer, I must remain adaptable and resilient. Still, I cherish every moment of the journey.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering love and support of my husband, Robert, and our amazing family. Their encouragement has allowed me to turn my dream into reality. My oldest daughter, Ksenia, shares my creative spirit and an eye for design. She’s become my partner in this venture, specializing in arranging Dahlias and other flowers. Ksenia also keeps meticulous records of our plants and has caught the Dahlia show bug herself, contributing to her own competitive flair.
